Established in 2014, the Brazilian Society (or BRS, as we like to call it) aims to promote a community of students with an interest in Brazil and foster engagement with Brazilian culture, society, and scholarship on Columbia’s campus and beyond.
Besides bringing together a community of 60+ Brazilian undergraduates, we proudly serve members of the Columbia community, regardless of nationality or language, from prospective students to graduate researchers to faculty. A passion for Brazilian culture, an interest in Brazilian affairs, and a willingness to engage with Brazil in any of its diverse facets—this is what unites us.
We work with academic departments and other student organizations at Columbia to bring to campus a wide range of events related to Brazil. We also welcome incoming Brazilian students and support them in their transition to Columbia and the academic and professional environment in the United States.
